From their audacious "Scenes from the World of Tomorrow" ads of the mid-1940's...

... to this clean, bright, race car ad from the mid-1950's, Firestone's ads were bursting with bold colour, aggressive energy, modern design and inventive themes.

Even this winter tire ad below, which seems relatively uninspired at first glance, is actually really eye-catching for its vivid colour scheme and clean, stark design -- and then on closer examination you realize its playful concept: its the attack of the 50 foot tire!

There's a lot of fun art in these pieces - well worth taking a closer look at. To do so, go to the full size versions in my Auto Ads Flickr set.

Thanks Les -- I'm glad to hear you like 'em as much as I do! :-)
Leif, if I'm mistaken, only one of those two "Tires of Tomorrow" pieces is in your flickr section. Should I look again??
Thanks!
