Fish On!
I've just returned from a four-day fishing trip Up North with my friends. It was a great time... and left me thinking about some of the fun old fishing illustrations I've been saving for an appropriate occasion. This seems like a good time to share them with you.

Those are fantastic! I love the one with the woman, who is so genuinely excited about the catch.
The ink drawings in the magazine also bring a tear to my eye!
Thank you for that, Jordie - I knew I couldn't be alone in appreciating these illustrations for something beyond the subject matter. I love your enthusiasm for those ink drawings. How you expressed it echoes my own feelings. Sometimes the purity of a well-crafted ink drawing, no matter how small or inconsequential, leaves me stunned with admiration for the hand that could create something so flawless - and make it look effortless.
The Outdoor Life cover is fun.I've seen many similar paintings,and usually enjoy seeing an action painting of a leaping fish.
I used to work at a small ad agency,doing mostly keylining and layouts,and an occasional drawing.My first illustration was done for the package of a new fishing lure designed by a local small businessman.He named it the Happy Hooker.
Just curious to know what a Hamiltonian considers "up north" {mischievous grin}...
Actually, these pics bring back a lot of memories of my fishing with my dad around Hillsborough Beach on Lake Huron.

Black Pete; In this case 'Up North' was just a few Km outside of Algonquin Park, near Dwight - but during our winter ice fishing trip 'Up North' means North Bay.
Neither truly qualifies as 'Up North", I know... but from a Souther Ontario perspective any drive that has the car pointing north for 3 to 5 hours is 'Up North'.
And I'm glad to hear those pictures brought back some fond memories :^)
I agree, love those ads - the Dacron is exceptional!
